Use of the 2500-2690 MHz Band for Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service

چکیده
The viable deployment of both UMTS Terrestrial radio access network (UTRAN) modes, Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) and Time Division Duplex (TDD) in additional and diverse spectrum arrangement will be investigated. Simulations are performed to study the interference between UTRATDD and the UTRA-FDD having adjacent channel carriers. This expansion spectrum will be predominantly used for expanding capacity, by means of macro, micro and pico cells in “hotspot” areas. In some scenarios, the TDD and FDD cells can use the same frequency, which will increase the capacity and utilize the underused UTRA-FDD UL resources. This study is one of the tasks of the B-BONE project (Broadcasting and multicasting over enhanced UMTS mobile broadband networks). In the 2500-2690 MHz band, we investigate the feasibility of future Enhanced UMTS FDD and TDD modes with multi-carrier and MIMO to carry digital broadcast services such as Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS).

Feasibility of UMTS-TDD mode in the 2500- 2690MHz Band for MBMS
Spectrum Arrangement Scenarios for 25002690MHz band allocation according to ITU-R include 7 different cases, however it remains to be known whether a single scenario or several should coexist in the future. For the 7 scenarios it’s necessary to get to know which are the most interesting and which will be more useful to broadcasting/multicasting using UTRA TDD (Time Division Duplex) or FDD (Freq...

Mobile video service is one of the most increasing uses expected in future generation cellular networks, including multicast video services. Based upon Evolved Multimedia Broadcast and Multicast Service (eMBMS) available with 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) release 9, Long Term Evolution (LTE) can provide broadcast/multicast content delivery with a single-frequency network mode. This ...
